Used Greeting Cards Raising Funds

Recently we noticed one of our Community Advertisers sharing a post asking for used greeting cards. So they can be repurposed and sold to raise funds for The Welcome Centre who support people in food crisis across Huddersfield – so I asked them to send me more information to share with you.

Community Cards is a volunteer-led initiative that gives used greeting cards a second life by transforming them into beautifully handmade cards for resale, with all proceeds donated to The Welcome Centre.

The project not only helps reduce waste and promote recycling, but also raises vital funds to support people facing crisis across Huddersfield and the surrounding areas.

Last month alone, The Welcome Centre:
• Provided 1,047 seven-day emergency food packs
• Supported 975 people, including 318 children
• Distributed enough food for 25,607 meals

Fundraising initiatives like Community Cards play an important role in helping us continue this essential work at a time when demand for support remains high.

As well as raising money, Community Cards provides a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, reduce social isolation, build friendships, and give something back to their local community.

The group is currently collecting used greeting cards, which can be dropped off or posted to the following locations:

• 15 Lord Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1QB
• Unit 10–11 Queens Mill Industrial Estate, Lockwood, HD1 3RR
• Any Kirklees Library
• Slaithwaite Post Office

Anyone interested in helping to sell cards or support the initiative can email charlie.taylor@thewelcomecentre.org
