Kirklees Libraries events
Skelmanthorpe Library Coffee Plus
Monday 12th October, 10.30 Local history talk about the Chartist Movement, a copy of the Skelmanthorpe Flag will be on display.
Shepley Library Coffee & Conversation
Thursday 22nd October 10.30, we ‘re joined by Matthew Golden from the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team.
Both coffee mornings are free to attend, no need to book. Refreshments are available for a small pay as you can donation.
Shepley Library Volunteers History Event in partnership with Central England Co-op
23rd October 2-5pm. Do you have or know anyone who has memories of life gone by in Shepley Village?
We want to record your stories and memories for use in creating a History Walking Trail around the village. Drop in, no need to book.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards – reporting illegal or underage firework sales
Attached are leaflets aimed at schools/families, also of wider interest to other sectors. Advice from West Yorkshire Trading Standards:
We are now entering firework season, where retailers with the relevant licence can legally sell fireworks from 15th October to 10th November.
Most retailers are not permitted to sell fireworks outside of this time frame, although some do have a year-round licence. In-depth information on the laws on firework sales can be found here.
Any information suggesting businesses, or individuals, are selling fireworks illegally, either outside of that time frame or during the retail period, is of interest to us, as is any information on any fireworks sales to under 18s, which is always illegal.

New Autumn Wellbeing programme (flyers attached)
In October, the Working Together Better Partnership is running an exciting 10-week Autumn Wellbeing Programme designed specifically for young adults and neurodiverse individuals.
The programme aims to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where people can learn new skills, build confidence, improve wellbeing and connect with others in their community.
