Shelley

Shelley, a small village on the edge of the Pennines overlooked by Emley Moor Mast (Arqiva Tower), is part of the Kirkburton local council ward. About 800ft above sea level, Shelley offers beautiful sweeping views of the valley it sits above and the surrounding countryside.

Shelley is now very much a commuter village, but with an active and well-run community association, Shelley has local community at its heart and retains the typical characteristics of a small and friendly Yorkshire village.

Best things about living in Shelley

  • The small patch of ancient woodland hidden within Shelly Park housing estate. A haven for resident dog walkers and full of wildlife. The bluebells are stunning in spring time.
  • Always knowing what direction home is – just look for Emley Moor mast!
