Modernising Elections – School and Youth Group Activity Sign-Up

The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee – a cross-party group of MPs – wants to hear from young people aged 13+ as part of its inquiry on Modernising Elections.
The committee is currently conducting an inquiry on the health of electoral democracy in the UK, in light of the changes that the government plans to make through the Representation of the People Bill – including votes at 16. The committee wants to understand how prepared young people feel to vote, and what could be done to increase their democratic engagement.
Sign up to take part in the inquiry by holding a discussion on these topics with your students or the young people you work with.
You will be sent an activity pack which provides further details and guidance about running the discussion session, including a set of discussion questions. The activity pack will also include details of how to submit your feedback to the committee. Discussions can take place in whatever class or session you think would be appropriate, such as form times, PSHE sessions or youth groups.
The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday 15 July 2026 – Modernising elections – School activity sign-up
