Kirklees Community Plus service

Provides short term, community-based interventions for residents to promote people’s well-being and independence. Support is broad and varied.

For all age groups and anyone can make an introduction for themselves, or someone they know.  After making an introduction the local Community Connector will make contact within 10 working days.

They work alongside people and provide advice, information and guided signposting. To connect people to their local community, feel more included, independent and promote emotional, physical and mental well-being.

Community Connector Enrique Salgado can be contacted on 07580791583 or come along to a regular drop-in on:

  • 1st and 3rd Fridays in the month at the Denby Dale Community library 10:00 – 1:00pm
  • 2nd and 4th Fridays in the month at the Skelmanthorpe Pantry 10:00 -1:00pm

Community Connector Deborah Neary will be at regular drop-ins on:

  • the last Thursday in the month next one 23rd July 10.00 am-1.00pm at Shepley Library (then Thursday 27th August 10.00 – 1.00pm, 24th September)
  • 2nd Tuesday in the month 11.00am – 2.00pm at Paula’s Community Cafe (Chatty Café), at St Paul’s Hall, Marsh Lane, Shepley (next drop in Tuesday 11th August , Tuesday 8th September)

Kirklees Library service is recruiting Customer Service Officers (Makerspace Support) at Kirklees Libraries for the Dewsbury and upcoming Huddersfield Makerspaces

These roles will support our innovative Makerspaces, helping customers explore creative technologies, learn new skills and bring their ideas to life.

We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others, are confident in a practical, hands-on environment, and have an interest in technology, making and learning.

Homes and Neighbourhoods Tenant Forums (attached)

Kirklees housing teams are holding Tenant Forums this July for council tenants to drop in, ask questions, learn more about housing services, and find out how to get involved.

The forums are in Dewsbury on Monday 20 July, 10am to 12pm at Dewsbury Town Hall, Huddersfield on Tuesday 21 July, 10am to 12pm at Civic Centre 1, and online on Wednesday 22 July, 6.30pm to 8pm.

Movement Fund webinar

Yorkshire Sport Foundation are hosting two Movement Fund webinars on July 21st 2026 10am or 6pm online, to book your place click here.

The sessions will cover:

  • Introduction about Sport England’s Movement Fund.
  • The Application, how and where to go to apply, 
  • Eligibility criteria, the application process,
  • Useful guidance on what to include in your submission.

Both sessions will cover the same information so there is only need to attend one.
