With Neurodiversity Celebration Week (16–20 March) fast approaching, Northorpe Hall Child + Family Trust is launching a new inclusive fundraising initiative designed to celebrate what makes every child unique — while raising vital funds for children’s mental health services.
The Mirfield-based charity is inviting schools, businesses and community groups to take part in a special non-uniform or themed day as part of its latest campaign, “A Place That Gets Me.”
Participants are encouraged to wear something that reflects their personality, passions or interests.
The aim is to spark positive conversations about individuality, inclusion and understanding, while supporting Northorpe Hall’s wellbeing and mental health services — particularly for neurodivergent children and young people.
The charity hopes the initiative will help highlight the importance of creating spaces where every young person feels recognised, valued and supported.
Celebrating what makes us unique
Organisers say the fundraising day is designed to be simple, creative and inclusive, allowing people to express themselves in ways that feel meaningful to them.
Ideas for participation include:
- Wearing a favourite colour
- Dressing in a sports kit or team shirt
- Representing a favourite book, film or character
- Or choosing anything that expresses what makes someone unique
While the fundraiser is being launched during Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Northorpe Hall emphasises that the event can be run at any time of year. This flexibility reflects the campaign’s wider message — that celebrating individuality and supporting mental wellbeing should be a year-round commitment.
Supporting children’s mental health
Funds raised through the campaign will help support Northorpe Hall’s wide range of wellbeing and mental health services for children, young people and families, including specialist support for neurodivergent young people.
All participants who sign up will receive a fundraising pack containing guidance, activity ideas and promotional materials to help make their event a success.
