Families across the Wakefield district are being encouraged to get out, get curious and get creating with 50 Things to Do Before You’re Five — a free, fun-packed guide designed to help children learn, play and thrive.

Accessible through the easy-to-use app and website, 50 Things offers families a treasure trove of local, low‑cost activities that spark imagination and support early development.
From splashing in puddles and exploring woodland trails to building dens, painting outdoors and spotting wildlife, parents and carers can find inspiration right on their doorstep.
“We want every child in Wakefield to have the chance to explore, learn and experience the joy of play,” said the Wakefield Wellbeing Team. “50 Things to Do Before You’re Five makes it simple for families to make lasting memories together, using everyday moments to build confidence, communication and curiosity.” Angela Gaughan Wellbeing Program Lead – Early Years
The app showcases activity ideas, local hotspots, tips for parents, and real-time updates on what’s happening across the district — all created to help little ones grow, discover new skills and have brilliant experiences before they start school.
