Helping Local Family Events Get Found Across West and South Yorkshire

Are you an organisers of family and children’s events across West and South Yorkshire? If so, we are looking to connect with you and invite you to make use of our free Local Events Calendar.

Each week we are attempting to highlight one of our three online advertising pillars — Business, Non-Profits and Events. This week the focus is on events, particularly those aimed at families and young children.

Our Local Events Calendar allows organisers to list events completely free of charge, with no advertising package required.

The calendar has become the most popular feature on the site over the years, accounting for around 40% of total pageviews.

Demonstrating the strong demand from local people looking for activities and events in their communities.
A good example of this is Bonfire Night. Every year our analytics spike in the weeks leading up to it as people search for local events to attend.

Other events that have historically performed particularly well include:

  • Mother and baby groups
  • Children’s classes and activities
  • Family and community events

The platform supports both one-off events and repeating events, allowing organisers to easily list activities that take place daily, weekly or monthly.

Another benefit of the local calendar is that it automatically builds a directory of venues. Showing all the events taking place at each location. This can provide additional visibility for community centres, village halls and other local venues.

Work Rest or Play is currently seeking connections with organisers across:

  • Kirklees
  • Wakefield
  • Barnsley
  • Leeds

We are also encouraging people to request a “Golden Ticket” which can be shared with local organisations that may benefit from being listed.

The goal is simple: to help more local businesses, non-profits and event organisers get discovered online by people in their communities.

Anyone wishing to connect or suggest an organisation can contact Work Rest or Play via the website.
