We are proud to present some of the works of Wilshaw-based visual artist and musician Simon Wood.
Simon studied tuba on the Guildhall’s Advanced Virtuoso Performers Course. Since then he has worked continually as a professional musician, full-time conductor and visual artist. He currently conducts two choirs, two big bands, a string ensemble, gypsy jazz ensemble and his own orchestra in conjunction with Marsden-based community organisation Hanson Arts.
Always in great demand as a singer, pianist and guitarist, in addition to leading his own dance band Simon is extremely busy with Americana band Mustard County. In 2019 Simon completed his first symphony and 2020 his first solo album, There’s A Sculptor On The Beach.
The works on display at the Tech are paintings that have evolved slowly, mainly abstract, alongside unframed works on paper that are more of a light diary of this summer in France.
