Playday is the UK’s national day for play held annually on the first Wednesday of August.
The day highlights the importance of play in children’s lives and calls for more inclusive, welcoming spaces where children and young people of all ages and abilities can play freely and feel part of their communities.
Holmfirth Tech will be hosting Playday this year with the theme of Seaside @ The Tech – bringing the seaside to Holmfirth.
The event is free to all and will include creative play, games and active play, music based activities, free refreshments, pizzas, hot dogs and drinks.
The tech provides free play spaces where children can explore, imagine and interact at their own pace.
Particular focus will be on reaching children and families who may have limited access to safe outdoor space or structured activities during the school holidays.
The aims of this day are to provide a safe, inclusive and accessible space for children to play, support children’s physical, emotional and social wellbeing through play.
Encourage creativity, confidence and self-expression.
Bring families together, strengthening community connections and reducing isolation.
To ensure children and young people of all abilities feel welcomed and included.
